Football Season

I forgot how busy we were last fall with Julian's football. I had no idea how serious people take football, even for 7 year olds. I never cheered or was involved in the football scene, so this is completely new to me, but I am having so much fun watching Julian learn and play. Practices have been 4 days a week from 6:30-8:30. It has been a challenge entertaining the babies and trying to watch Julian as much as possible at the practices and the games. It helps that their is a playground right beside the field. The babies have so much fun being outside and playing that they are enjoying their time as well. Chris and I are trying to divide up our time the best we can so that we both get to see him.

He is one of the youngest on the team and smallest this year. We did not think he would like tackle football, but after each practice we ask him if he had fun, and he always is very happy and says how much he enjoyed it. Julian loves being with his friends and the sportsmanship of the game. He may not be the best one on the team, but he does give it 100% and is at every practice ready to learn. Growing up, that is one thing my parents taught us. My dad didn't care if we were the best one on the team, but expected us to give it our all. Julian's coach told chris that Julian answered every question he asked and told him that he could tell he is very smart. i think the more familiar with the game he becomes, the better he will be. Julian is a very logical person and needs to understand the details of what he is learning.

Julian is #28. He is waiting on sidelines for his turn to go to the field.
He looks so grown up with all the pads and big boy uniform on.

Playtime during practices and the games.

Chillin on the swing.
My kids are starting to really enjoy playing with each other. As a parent it is so great to watch your children love each other so much.
lilly may be the "small one" but she is the fiesty one. She's the one being the dominant one in this picture, and Alex is loving it.
The best attempt at the moment to get the 3 of them together.
Lilly loves her "babies"
Lilly and her daddy. I think he is already wrapped around her finger.

Such a handsome little boy.

One last summer getaway

We decided to go to Connecticut for the weekend to visit DeeDee and PaPa. We left Thursday after Julian's football practice and around bedtime. It seems to be the best time for us to travel these days. The kids did great on the way there and we made great time. it was soooooo nice to just get in the car for 3 hours when we are used to 12-15 hours. The kids are getting a little older and able to reason with them, and they knew they were going to deedee's and wanted to go.

We had a great time visiting papa at work, eating out, going to Essex to the boat, and taking a boat ride to Greenport, Long Island for lunch. We are so happy that our kids seem to love the boat and water as much as we do. They got on the boat and had a great time, and took a great nap as soon as the engines were going good. It brought us back to when Julian was little and we would take him on the boat. He always slept great with the sound of the engines.
