As if we haven't had enough snow this season (Which started before Thanksgiving), we get a BLIZZARD in Feb the week of Julian's birthday. It started on a Friday morning. I was at work and luckily got home before it was too bad. It's funny because I used to be terrified to drive in the snow, and now it's no big deal. I guess practice makes perfect. And we gets lots of practice here. It's either learn how to get out or be housebound for a LONG time, and that's no fun with 3 little ones to entertain. I left work with only about 5 inches on the ground, and thank goodness. Some nurses were stuck at the hospital for 2 days. Which meant that they had to work a lot because other nurses couldn't get in to work either. Chris shoveled the driveway 3 times throughout the day on Friday to try to keep up with it. To our dismay when we woke up saturday, it looked like he hadn't even touched it with about 2 feet of snow still left to shovel. Poor Chris, probably shoveled for over 10 hours. Talk about a work out. You use muscles that you never use anytime else. In total we measured about 35 inches of snow in that one snow storm. It is really pretty to look out, but it is a lot of work, and then it is a big mess.
My parents were lucky to have gotten out the morning the snow started so we were babysitting the dogs. The kids love having the dogs here and it helps us too so we don't have to get another dog right a way.
Alex is alwasys the one willing to get out and try to help us shovel. This is early on in the storm before it got too bad.
The kids love the snow initially. They love to get out, and it is pretty cool to get to play in the snow and see everything covered. We didn't get this experience growing up in Georgia. They definitely aren't the southern children that Jess, Blake and I were.
This is Friday night after 2 times clearing the driveway. Chris was going to clear it one more time before we went to bed. There is probably a foot of snow on the driveway here.
The next day was beautiful. Julian and his friend, Jack, had so much fun playing outside.
That's my care with about an additional foot of snow from the night before.
Again, our little helper with his shovel
She is a mommy girl, saying "it's really cold" Lilly usually lasted a few minutes before she retreated to the play room to look out the window at us.
Chris still atempting to clear the driveway. He hates being house bound.
yes, thats over my knees and I'm not touching the ground. It was easy to loose your shoes in the snow and very difficult to walk. This doesn't make the best snow to play in when you just get stuck.
Poor Lilly crying because her glove came off and her hand got cold.
Julian standing on our patio table. The snow is level with the top.
Chris still shoveling. Piles becoming over 4 feet
Neighbors with snow blowers coming to lend a hand to neighbors still stuck. I bet chris wishes he was a little slower so he could have not shoveeled so much.
Our neighborhood road was finally plowed, and we got out for a little walk.
The dogs favorite place to sleep for the night. They love Alex's platform bed. Dooley can get into it easily, and Alex loves that they sleep with him.
Day 3 of snow storm clean up.
Snow storm day 5, still with no school, and having a lazy morning together. This is the fun part of being snowed in: Getting to spend good lazy time with my babies. Unfortuanely, we may be going to school until July to make up for all the lost school time, which is really going to upset me. I am so ready to be done with snow and cold weather. The south is definately calling my name!!!!
